Alex Murphy begins his first season with the Wild Things and in the Frontier League after signing Friday, July 19. He was released from the Orioles organization after completing a rehab from a freak play in 2018, on which he tore his ACL, MCL and meniscus while playing for the Frederick Keys in the Carolina League. Murphy was drafted in the sixth round by his hometown Baltimore Orioles in the 2013 MLB June Amateur Draft. Between 2016 and 2017, Murphy combined to hit 27 home runs and drive in 101 runs between Delmarva (SALL - 2016) and Frederick (CARL - 2017). Alex was 7-for-27 to start 2019 after finishing his rehab from injury before his release.
