Wild Things Make Deal With RHP Kelvin Perez Official

WASHINGTON, Pa. (Feb. 17) – The Washington Wild Things have made a signing official, adding RHP Kelvin Perez to the pitching offseason roster. Perez pitched in both the Blue Jays and Braves organizations before spending 2025 in the Pioneer League.

Perez pitched in 2025 for two Pioneer League teams and totaled 19 appearances. Only one of those came for Rocky Mountain while the other 18 were made for Great Falls. In his 18.2 innings last season, he walked only two opposing hitters and struck out 16.

Born in Tinaquillo, Venezuela, Perez lists his hometown as Ruskin, Florida and was an international free agency signing by the Blue Jays before COVID. He began his affiliated journey in 2021 with the FCL Blue Jays and appeared in 15 games, going 4-1 in 21 innings. He walked nine versus 17 strikeouts. In 2022, he was 2-3 with a 2.37 ERA in 20 appearances. Five were games finished and he had a save in his time, mostly spent (19 of 20 appearances) with Class-A Dunedin. In 38.0 total innings, he walked only 13 and allowed just 10 earned runs with 24 strikeouts.

In 2023, Perez split his time between Dunedin (11 appearances) and the FCL Braves (15 appearances), which won a Complex League title. He was 4-2 in the combined 26 appearances with nine games finishes and three saves over 30.1 innings. He walked only seven and fanned 26.

The Washington Wild Things will open their 24th season on May 7, 2026, with the homer opener scheduled for Friday, May 15 against the Schaumburg Boomers at EQT Park.
