WASHINGTON, Pa. (Dec. 13) – The Washington Wild Things have signed lefty Michael Foltz Jr. to the roster today, adding another lefty to the mix. Foltz Jr. finished 2025 with the West Virginia Black Bears in the MLB Draft League after completing his third and final season at George Washington.

Foltz Jr. was 2-2 with the Black Bears in 16 games (one start), while he finished five games. Over 21.1 innings, he struck out 26 batters, featuring a three-pitch mix. With GW in 2025, he started 14 games and pitched one complete game over 76.0 innings. He fanned 60 to 36 walks in his final year at the school.

The left-handed pitcher’s 2024 season included 13 starts and was his best collegiate season. Foltz was 4-1 with a 2.92 ERA and a complete game over 74.0 innings, He allowed only 46 hits, 23 walks and struck out 55. He was named A-10 Pitcher of the Week May 20, was selected as Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team as a starting pitcher, named to the A-10 All-Championship Team and was a Second Team ABCA/Rawlings East All-Region selection.

The 2023 season was his first at George Washington and he was 1-4 in 26 bullpen appearances with three saves in 38.2 innings. He struck out 42 against 16 walks. His college career started at Duke in 2022, where he pitched in six games and logged three total innings. Over summers, he spent three seasons in the Coastal Plain League, one with High Point-Thomasville and two with Holly Springs before pitching in the Cape Cod Baseball League for Orleans in 2024. In 2022 with Holly Springs, he worked to a 1.32 ERA in 22 games and 27.1 innings. Foltz Jr. had five saves and struck out 35 opposing batters. In the Cape, he posted a 3.03 ERA in nine games (six starts) and in 35.2 innings, struck out 24.

He was the seventh-ranked lefty in the state of South Carolina and the No. 12 overall prospect in the state according to Perfect Game USA at Carolina Forest High School in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. In 2018, he was an Underclass High Honorable Mention All-America selection.

The Washington Wild Things will open their 24th season on May 7, 2026, with the homer opener scheduled for Friday, May 15 against the Schaumburg Boomers at EQT Park.
