Wild Things Sign LHP Max Folkman Out of Eckerd College
WASHINGTON, Pa. (July 10) – Prior to today’s series opener against the Lake Erie Crushers, the Washington Wild Things signed left-handed pitcher Max Folkman out of Eckerd College, where he spent the last two seasons of his collegiate career after beginning it at Palm Beach State.
The 21-year old lefty is coming off a really strong senior campaign for the Tritons, where he was 3-1 with a 3.04 ERA in 14 games, logging 26.2 innings pitched. In that work he allowed only 10 runs (nine earned) and eight walks with 29 strikeouts. In his first season at Eckerd in 2025, he was 0-1 with two saves in 17 appearances (one start). In 22.2 innings, he struck out 18.
Those two seasons came off two at NJCAA school Palm Beach Statem where he appeared in 25 games with four starts over two seasons and had a 4.80 ERA. The second season there was his best at the school in 2024. He was 2-3 with a 3.26 ERA in 2024 with 16 outings to total 38.2 innings pitched. He walked only 13 and struck out 19 against 14 earned runs.
Folkman played at Land O’ Lakes High School in Pasco County (FL) and was named 2022 Most Valuable Relief Pitcher.
Folkman will be active tonight for the Wild Things. In a corresponding roster move, RHP Shuto Okumura was placed on the 14-Day Injured List, retroactive to Tuesday, July 7, 2026.
