Kenny Pierson Signed by Wild Things
WASHINGTON, Pa. (May 11) - The Washington Wild Things have added left-handed pitcher Kenny Pierson to the 2022 roster, just two days in advance of Opening Day, as the team prepares for its final exhibition of the preseason tonight.
Pierson spent time in the Pecos League in 2019 with Sante Fe and with Salina in 2020 before pitching in both the American Association and the Frontier League in 2021. He pitched 36.1 innings for Santa Fe in 2019 and 17.1 innings in 2020 for Salina and struck out 37 batters between the two seasons.
The Notre Dame College alum pitched in 13 games for the Southern Illinois Miners last season and was 2-1 with a 4.63 ERA in 11.2 innings. He fanned six and walked two. He also pitched with the Houston Apollos (American Association) in 2021. In 23 games, he made one start and totaled 21.2 innings of work.
At Notre Dame (OH), he was 13-14 with a 4.28 ERA in four seasons. Over 52 games (27 starts), he logged 201.2 innings and only walked 45 batters to 124 strikeouts.
In a corresponding move, the Wild Things released LHP Colt Mink.
