Florence Grabs Second Game With Two-Run Fifth
WASHINGTON, Pa. (August 14, Game 2) - Florence used a two-run fifth inning and lost Washington opportunities to sweep Saturday's doubleheader at Wild Things Park.
The Wild Things got the scoring started in the first inning, scoring on a wild pitch with the bases loaded and nobody out. Scotty Dubrule scored the run after getting on to start the game from the leadoff spot, extending his on-base streak to 25 games, which is now the third longest in the league this season, one behind second and three games behind Chuck Taylor's (Sussex County) 28-game on-base streak.
Florence scored two in the fifth, both of which were charged to starter Alex Boshers, on a bases-loaded, two-run single by Luis Pintor. Washington got the tying run on base in fifth inning and put the tying and go-ahead runs on base in the sixth inning but failed to score.
The two teams will meet in the finale of the series tomorrow on Disney Night and a Kids Eat Free Sunday presented by Moe's and PA Cyber at Wild Things Park. First pitch is at 5:35 p.m. Gates open at 4:30. Tickets can be purchased at wildthingstickets.com.
