Washington Runs Away With 10th-Straight Win Over Jackals

WASHINGTON, Pa. (August 6) - The Wild Things took the moniker of the Steel City Slammin' Sammies on Yinzer Night at Wild Things Park and dominated their way to a series-opening win, their 10th straight against the Jackals and eighth in a row at home n'at. Andrew Sohn led the way with three RBI while three pitchers combined to allow just one run in the 8-1 victory. 

Sohn started the scoring in the third inning with an RBI double that plated Andrew Czech, who singled to start the frame. Sohn scored on a base hit by Bralin Jackson, giving Jackson a team-leading 45th RBI on the season. The Wild Things added five in the fuorth inning, the first of which scored on a bases-loaded walk to Sohn. The second came in on an RBI single up the middle by Scotty Dubrule. Dubrule scored on an RBI single by Jackson that ended up being misplayed by New Jersey left fielder Todd Isaacs which allowed two more to score to make it 7-0.

Josh Rehwaldt homered to bring the score to 7-1 in the seventh before a sac fly by Sohn finished the scoring off in the eighth inning. 

Daren Osby threw 4.1 innings of scoreless ball before leaving the game with a minor arm injury. Ben Vicini relieved Osby and got the win after allowing a run over 2.2 innings. Alex Boshers finished the night with two scoreless innings. 

The Wild Things and Jackals will meet again tomorrow evening at 7:05 p.m. on Hockey Night. The team will be wearing special "Miracle on Ice"-themed jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game at mac.bid. Gates open at 6 p.m.
