Late Comeback Surges Leads Wild Things to Win

WASHINGTON, PA (July 31) – The Wild Things won the second game of the series tonight against the Tri-City ValleyCats by a score of 6-2 thanks in large part to a Grant Heyman game-tying blast and a four-run eighth.

The ValleyCats got on the board early in the top of the second inning. Juan Silverio tripled to right scoring Willy Garcia who singled to start the inning. The ValleyCats also picked up another run courtesy of a groundout.

The Wild Things would get back a run in the bottom of the third inning. Andrew Czech crushed a ball over the fence cutting the lead to one for Tri-City. The homer was Czech's 14th homer of the season, tying him for second in the league in the category.

In the bottom of the seventh, Grant Heyman stepped up to the plate and smashed a home run, also over the right field fence, evening the score up at two apiece.

The game would only remain tied for an inning as the Wild Things piled up four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Bralin Jackson stepped up to the plate with two men on base with only one out. Jackson hit a triple giving him two runs batted in and the Wild Things took lead for the first time on the night.

Grant Heyman would step up to the plate next and single home Jackson. Trevor Casanova would also join the party and singled in Heyman. This extended the Wild Things lead over the ValleyCats to 6-2.

Washington will return to action tomorrow night where they will be playing the final game in the series against the Tri-City ValleyCats.
