Shaine Hughes Walk-Off Single Lifts Wild Things to Win
WASHINGTON, Pa. (August 6) - The Wild Things won by walkoff for the third time this season in Tuesday's series opener against Joliet, when Shaine Hughes singled home JR Davis, who had tripled with one out to set up the victory-sealing hit. Washington's pitching staff allowed two runs for the second-consecutive game as well.

Washington started the scoring when Davis singled in Ryan Cox, who was on second via a double in the third. Joliet scored twice in the fifth on an error and a homer by Dash Winningham to take the lead. Cody Erickson homered for the fourth time this year to tie it in the sixth.

Davis tripled in the ninth with one out before Hughes hit a flare to center that dropped in front of the drawn-in centerfielder to win the game for the Wild Things.

AJ Bogucki tossed six innings of two-run ball with nine strikeouts for his second-consecutive quality start, but received a no decision. Jesus Balaguer got the win with 1.1 scoreless innings after BJ Sabol had a scoreless outing.

The Wild Things and Slammers battle again tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. at Wild Things Park for the middle game. Right handers will matchup on the mound as Joliet sends Daren Osby out to work against Washington's Michael Austin.
