Washington Wild Things and CONSOL Energy Park to Host “Cicada Night”

WASHINGTON, PA – CONSOL Energy Park and the Washington Wild Things will be hosting a game Saturday, July 9 in honor of the 17-year-cicadas that have been flying around Southwestern Pennsylvania the past few weeks: respectively called “Cicada Night.”

The 7:05 p.m. matchup will be played against the Schaumburg Boomers and will be a Saturday giveaway sponsored by CONSOL Energy; the first 1,000 guests will receive an “ugly blanket.”

The Washington Wild Things will change their name to the “Washington Cicadas” for the game and will wear authentic uniforms sponsored by Orkin, publicizing our little “friends.” Clothing and souvenir items connected to the night will be sold at The Cage inside CONSOL Energy Park throughout the event.

The player’s jerseys will be auctioned off throughout the game – these proceeds will benefit the Orkin Charities. This group donates money to an array of charities within the area.

“The Wild Things, staff and everyone at CONSOL Energy Park is excited to honor the cicadas,” said Jordan Millorino, Assistant General Manager, Assistant Controller and Merchandise Manager of CONSOL Energy Park. “They have been a huge part of this season – it is only fair they get an appropriate sendoff.”
