Washington Falls to Normal 6-2
WASHINGTON, PA - The Washington Wild Things took on the Normal CornBelters in game two of a three game series Wednesday night at CONSOL Energy Park. The Belters got the best of the Wild Things in a 6-2 final score. Sam Agnew Weiland is charged with the loss.Normal's Charlie Gillies struck out eight and surrendered four hits in six innings pitched.
Normal took the early lead on a wild pitch to Brandon Roberts giving the Belters a 1-0 lead. The run was set up by a single from Craig LePre. The CornBelters extended their lead to 2-0 in the top of the 5th on an Aaron Dudley RBI double that brought home Ty Morris.
The Wild Things began their comeback in the bottom of the 6th with a single from Chris Grayson. Ricky Rodriguez followed up with a single of his own and an error by the second baseman brought home Grayson, cutting the lead to 2-1. Kyle Pollock tied the game up with an RBI single that brought home Ricky Rodriguez.
Normal regained the lead with an RBI double from Santiago Chirino, putting the Belters out front 3-2. A two run triple from Nolan Meadows tacked on two more runs, extending the lead to 5-2. Normal added some insurance with a Craig LePre RBI single again extending the lead to 6-2.
