Wild Things Sign LHP Ethan Brown in Series of Moves

WASHINGTON, Pa. (July 7) – The Washington Wild Things made a series of roster moves Monday with more coming Tuesday prior to the morning game with the Otters at EQT Park.

Washington placed RHP Jackson Hicks on the 7-Day Injured List, retroactive to Friday, July 4, placed IF Tyreque Reed on the 7-Day Injured List, traded LHP Ryan Chasse to the High Point Rockers (ATLL) for infielder Carlos Amezquita and a player to be named and signed left-handed pitcher Ethan Brown.

Brown comes to the Wild Things after pitching his final collegiate season at the University of Tampa. He was a member of Tampa’s Sunshine State Conference winning team and helped Tampa to a Division II National Championship win. Brown was 2-1 this season with a 5.06 ERA in 18 games. In 26.2 innings, he allowed 20 hits and struck out 37 coming off missing the 2024 season. He walked 27, but only six came after the turn of the calendar to April.

His previous two collegiate seasons were spent at South Florida, where he was 5-9 combined with an ERA in the low 6.00’s. He made 33 appearances at USF, 17 of which were starts. Across three total collegiate seasons above Seminole State College, he was 7-10 in 51 games. In 127.2 innings, he fanned 152 and walked 79. At Seminole State College, he made 19 appearances as a freshman and had a 1-2 record with a save in 24 innings. As a sophomore there in 2020, he made a team-high 11 appearances with five starts and was 3-1 with a save and a 3.54 ERA in 40.2 innings with 57 punchouts.

Brown attended Lakeland Regional High School in Wanaque, New Jersey. Besides baseball, he was a one-time letterwinner in basketball.

The Wild Things are set for a six-game homestand starting tomorrow with a 10:35 a.m. game against the Evansville Otters. More roster moves will be announced tomorrow before the game.
