Andrew Herbert Signed to Make Debut

WASHINGTON, Pa. (May 25) – The Washington Wild Things have signed RHP Andrew Herbert, a four-year standout at Reinhardt University (NAIA), to the active roster and he’ll make his professional debut today, making the start against Florence for the Wild Things.

The club also made the following transactions: released RHP Ivan Oviedo, transferred RHP Joelvis Del Rosario from the 7-Day Injured List to the inactive list and placed IF Tommy Caufield on the 7-Day Injured List.

Herbert is the younger brother of former Wild Things catcher Lucas Herbert and is coming off a 12-0 season at Reinhardt in 2025, in which he posted a 1.88 ERA in 100.1 innings. He struck out 99 against 23 walks this season. Over his four years at Reinhardt, he was 37-6 with a 2.62 ERA in 299.1 innings pitched. He started 43 of the 58 games he appeared in. He fanned 306 and walked 71 over the near 300 innings on the mound.

The righty posted four complete games and two shutouts this season as the Eagles made it to the NAIA Opening Round this season.

The short homestand continues tonight with the final game of the weekend. It is the first Kids Eat Free Sunday presented by Pathways alongside Nickelodeon Night presented by RHS Safety with character appearances by Paw Patrol members Chase, Skye and Marshall. First pitch is scheduled for 5:35 p.m. and tickets are available at washingtonwildthings.com.
