Home Opener a Success, More Fun on the Way
The Washington Wild Things opened their 21st season with a win yesterday evening against the New York Boulders. After a division title in 2022, the expectations are high as we kick off the 2023 season.
Fans filled the stands last night thrilled and ready for the home opener as well as the rest of the upcoming season. One excited fan expressed their thoughts on this season and the Wild Things organization,
“Hanging here is second to none in regards to other franchises around here,” he said. “We’re so excited about the new season, excited to be here in this area: this area loves baseball and we’re ready for Opening Day!”
Excited would be an understatement because these Wild Things fans are ready to get this season underway.
Fans aren’t the only ones ready for the season though. General manager Tony Buccilli has high hopes for the season as well. Buccilli discussed how exciting opening day is for everyone: not just the fans but staff as well.
“The excitement regarding Opening Fay means a lot for a season and is the start of a new beginning,” Buccilli said. “It’s going to be a long journey but hopefully it's a beneficial one for everybody.”
Wild Things fans are of the utmost importance to him and this organization and his hopes for this season reflect that
“I think for us as the organization it is always looking for continuing a great environment for our fans and keeping them excited to come back,” Buccilli said of his hopes for the season. “Also the development of new fans, giving them the opportunity of coming into the ballpark, seeing what we're all about, and falling in love with the type of entertainment we put on.”
