JR Davis' Two-Run, Walk-Off Single Lifts Washington to Win
WASHINGTON, Pa. (July 24) - JR Davis' two-run single with one out in the ninth lifted Washington to its second walk-off victory of the 2019 season at Wild Things Park Wednesday. The Wild Things won 4-3, as they got back to 10 games under .500 and evened the series with the Rascals.

River City started the scoring in the second when catcher James Morisano doubled home a pair to make it 2-0. Washington responded immediately, when Alex Murphy hit his third home run in as many games, on the first pitch of the home second. The Rascals then added a run in the fifth on a wild pitch.

It was scoreless then until the ninth. Stephen Lohr walked to lead the home half off before Cameron Baranek reached on an error by the first baseman for the Rascals. Ryan Cox then singled on a bunt towards third, trying to sacrifice the runners. After a Blake Adams strikeout, Davis, with two strikes, grounded a ball off the glove of the shortstop into left field for a walk-off, two-run base knock.

Josh Lapiana threw 5.2 innings of three-run ball (two earned) on four hits. James Meeker tossed 2.1 scoreless with four strikeouts and only one hit allowed. Jesus Balaguer tossed a scoreless top of the ninth and got the win.

The rubber game of the series is scheduled for tomorrow at Wild Things Park between the Rascals and Wild Things. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. on a Thirst-Tee Thursday presented by Mylan and Stoney's.
