Jenco Doubles Twice in Loss to Crushers Sunday
WASHINGTON, Pa. (May 19) - Outfielder Saige Jenco hit his first two doubles as a member of the Washington Wild Things in Sunday's 9-2 loss at the hands of the Crushers, who finish the three-game series with their third sweep of the Wild Things since the start of 2018.
Lake Erie started the scoring in the third, after Bryan DeLaRosa doubled to lead the frame off. He would advance to third after a slash chopper to the pitcher on which the Wild Things' couldn't get the lead runner DeLaRosa after a rundown. The Crushers would go on to score five in the inning and never looked back. Jake Veith and Zach Racusin went back-to-back, with Veith's homer being of the three-run variety.
Washington got a run in the third when JJ Fernandez hit a sacrifice fly that plated Jenco after his first double. After that, Lake Erie put up a run in the sixth, Washington got one of its own in the sixth on an RBI fielders' choice by Brett Marr and the Crushers added in the final three innings combined, to win 9-2.
Wander Franco added two hits of his own for the Wild Things.
The Wild Things now turn their attention to a three-game series with the Florence Freedom, which will get underway Wednesday at 11:05 a.m.
