Wild Things to Host Dingers Only Night With Pat McAfee
WASHINGTON, Pa. (Feb. 21) - What's up cuzzos?! The Washington Wild Things have announced plans for "Dingers Only Night with Pat McAfee", presented by Venture Energy Solutions, to be held Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Wild Things Park. Following back-and-forth between the Wild Things front office and the Barstool Heartland crew, including McAfee, the sides have come to an agreement, and it is now official. When the Wild Things play the Traverse City Beach Bums June 21, the Plum Borough, Pennsylvania, native, and former West Virginia University and Indianapolis Colts star will be in the starting lineup, playing right field for Washington, before batting and coaching first base for the team, in his professional baseball debut.
On top of it, Thursdays, including this one, will be "Thirst-tee Thursdays," with fans receiving a free t-shirt, courtesy of Mylan, as well as fans 21 and older being able to purchase $1 pints, presented by Stoney's Beer.
"I'm very grateful that the Washington Wild Things are willing to have a great time with some promotion, while raising money for an incredible cause," said McAfee. "$1 pints, a free t-shirt and a chance that I die from getting hit by a pitch from a professional pitcher is quite a recipe for an incredible time. June 21 is shaping up to be quite a majestic Thursday night in beautiful Washington, Pennsylvania. Cheers."
Half of all proceeds on "Dingers Only Night," will go directly to benefit the "It's About the Warrior Foundation." The It's About the Warrior Foundation is a post-9/11 veterans organization that assists and empowers all tri-state area post-9/11 veterans and their families with its various programs.
Venture Energy Solutions has worked with the Wild Things before, and is excited to do so again for this event, as the presenting sponsor.
"It has been our pleasure to work with the Wild Things in the past for Military Appreciation Night to honor the military and its members' many sacrifices," said Corey Roslonski of Venture Energy Solutions. "From the very first Wild Things game to the upcoming 2018 season, we are amazed at what the organization has been able to accomplish."
The plans were revealed on Barstool Radio by McAfee Tuesday, and they quickly took Twitter by storm, with the team running a social media contest for tickets, beer vouchers and McAfee autographed baseballs, which, as of this release, has been re-tweeted more than 1,600 times. The original announcement by the Wild Things on Twitter including a set of guarantees, including the details on what McAfee would be doing, and the confirmation of former Steelers safety Troy Polamalu not being in "any C-Gap," a situation made viral by McAfee in an online video, has more than 500 retweets and more than 2,400 likes.
Washington front office personnel anticipate it being a big night, and are excited for the promotion.
"We appreciate Pat taking time out of his busy schedule to join us and embark on his professional baseball career. Being centrally located between Pittsburgh and Morgantown, we anticipate Stoolies from all over to come out for Dingers Only Night with Pat," said assistant general manager Tony Buccilli. "Thanks again to It’s About the Warrior and our sponsors for making this event possible. June 21 will be a night to remember!”
