Wild Things Sign 5th Round Prospect
The Washington Wild Things are proud to announce the signing of former Rays’ prospect Bralin Jackson. As a 5th round selection in 2012, the Raytown, MO native spent 5 seasons manning the outfield for Tampa Bay.
Jackson joins the Wild Things roster after a 2016 season with the Charlotte Stone Crabs of the Florida State League. In 71 games, Jackson hit .231 but his season was hampered and cut short by a lower body injury. With the Bowling Green Hot Rods in 2015, Jackson impressed hitting .274 and driving in 41 runs. Following 116 games in Kentucky, he traveled to Brisbane, Australia to play another 46 games with the Bandits of the ABL. Jackson continued to showcase himself as a weapon, hitting .271 and adding another 16 RBI to his season totals. In 2014, he earned All-Star honors while playing for the Hudson Valley Renegades. Over his 5 year career, the outfield has totaled 10 HR and a career 109 runs driven in but speed plays a large role to complete Jackson’s game. At the plate, Jackson has 51 doubles and 14 triples but on the bases he stole safely 53 bags.
“On the field, Bralin is a unique blend of power and speed with his 6’1 210 frame. Off the field, his character and hard work is just as unique. We have full expectations of Bralin playing a big role in our success this season. The glowing reports we received from Major League clubs and the interaction with Bralin directly, fuel that confidence.” GM Steve Zavacky explained.
