WVSU & JMU Stars Join Wild Things
The Washington Wild Things would like to announce to signings of RHP Josh Falbo and C Bobby San Martin to their 2017 roster. Falbo, a West Virginia State University grad and Martin, a James Madison University grad, will begin their first season of professional baseball here in the Frontier League.
Josh Falbo, joins Washington after 11 starts and 63 bullpen appearances with the Yellow Jackets. In his first three seasons he collected 30 saves, 91 strikeouts and earned Honorable Mention All-American recognition. For his senior campaign, Falbo transitioned to a starter and collected 9 wins in the 11 games he appeared in. The Hurricane, WV native will return back to the bullpen and focus on late inning situations with Washington.
Bobby San Martin, completed 4 seasons with the James Madison Dukes and totaled 131 starts behind the dish. A medical issue limited his availability as a senior in 2016 but consistency has largely been San Martin’s strength. As a Duke, he hit 26 doubles and 7HR but also showed a continual knack to get on-base (Career .334 OBP). San Martin joins Washington’s backstops and looks forward to working with the third best pitching staff in the Frontier League from 2016.
“Both players show a willingness and determination to prove themselves. Josh is excited to get back to relieving and has been impressive at the California Winter League, striking out 17 batters in 9 innings. Bobby does not want to be defined by a year shortened by injury and looks to enter camp with a chip on his shoulder. They have the right mentality approaching Spring Training and we look forward to seeing them attack this opportunity.”, General Manager Steve Zavacky explained.
