Bullpen Adds Two Undrafted LA Angels

Washington, PA (March 27, 2017) - The Washington Wild Things have agreed to terms with two relievers who joined the Los Angeles Angels following their senior seasons. RHP Turner Parry and LHP Taylor Keinat will transition from the Arizona League to the Frontier League, with the Wild Things.

Turner Parry, a 6’4 reliever, played two seasons with D3 powerhouse SUNY Cortland and became the 22nd player in the program to play professionally. Parry was part of the SUNY Cortland team that won the D3 National Championship in 2015 and tied for third in 2016, with a 88-12 record overall during his tenure. As a D3 second team All-American, he collected 6 saves and fanned 56 batters in over 38 innings. Parry limited batters to a team leading .169 average and held a 1.64 ERA in 20 appearances.

“The Angels had Turner focus his efforts on a weighted ball program in 2016. We look forward to seeing him display the fruits of his labor and hard work. Pressure situations should not bother Turner, with his experience pushing to win National Championships.”, GM Steven Zavacky stated.

University of North Georgia grad Taylor Keinat will join college teammate, INF Joey Cecere, here in Washington. The LHP made 46 appearances for the Nighthawks in his junior and senior seasons. Keinat limited hitters to a .214 batting average against and struck out a batter an inning. With the Angels, Keinat fanned 4 batters in 4 innings of work in the Arizona League.

Wild Things GM Steven Zavacky also discussed Keinat’s signing, “Taylor was very proactive throughout the process. He is willing to embrace any role put before him as a competitor. His versatility should be an asset to a deep and skilled bullpen.”
