Foss Returns to Washington
The Washington Wild Things have agreed to terms with veteran RHP Trevor Foss. After joining the Cleveland Indians and spending the winter playing in Australia, he returns to headline the Washington pitching staff.
Foss joined Washington prior to the 2016 season after 3 years with the Los Angeles Angels. He earned the Opening Day start versus the Gateway Grizzlies and quickly became one of the most dominant pitchers in Wild Things history. In 14 starts he notched 8 wins and a mind boggling 8 complete games. Of those 8 complete games Foss shouldered, 3 ended in a shutout. He currently is one complete game short of tying the franchise record of 9, held by RHP Justin Hall.
The Wisconsin native was named a Frontier League Mid-Season and Post-Season All Star despite joining the Indians in early August. Foss made 7 starts for the Lake County Captains and fanned 39 batters in over 42 innings of work. In Australia Foss made 10 starts with the Sydney Blue Sox, preparing his arm for the upcoming season.
"Trevor is a special person and a special player. He had the opportunity to play anywhere in the country and he chose to return to Washington because of our community. Trevor's addition gives us that ace all teams search for, but he also drives the rest of our rotation to match his level of competitiveness. As much as Foss throws to execute his game plan, at the end of the day he has a desire to entertain fans and engage the crowd.", General Manager Steve Zavacky noted.
