Washington Drops Second Consecutive Series With Loss to Joliet
WASHINGTON, Pa., May 31 - With tonight's 7-2 loss to the Joliet Slammers, the Wild Things dropped their second consecutive series, this time on the road after a home-stand ending series loss to Florence.
Trevor Belicek started the game for the Wild Things, who scored first with a run in the top of the first inning, and went five innings, yielding 11 hits and six earned runs with six strikeouts. Joliet scored two in the third, and four in the fifth against the Washington starter on a run-scoring double and a three-run home run in the latter of the two innings. Joe Ravert gave up a run in one inning of relief.
Shane Bryant, who started for Joliet, pitched eight strong innings, allowing the two Washington runs on five hits. He walked six and struck out four. Washington's two runs both came via sacrifice fly: one from outfielder Bralin Jackson and one from first baseman Kane Sweeney.
The Slammers and Wild Things play the final game of the road set for Washington tomorrow before the Wild Things return home for three with Traverse City. Chase Cunningham will take the mound looking to continue his early-season success with first pitch scheduled for 8:05 p.m.
