Kenny Peoples-Walls Received FL Weekly Honor

WASHINGTON, Pa. – Today the Frontier League announced its Player and Pitcher of the Week, and, for the second time this season, a Wild Thing is one of them. Third baseman Kenny Peoples-Walls has been named the league’s Player of the Week. He’s the first Wild Thing to receive the honor since August 22, 2016 when outfielder Chris Grayson was given the laurels.

Peoples-Walls had quite the week, beginning in Schaumburg against the Boomers. Tuesday’s game was just the beginning. That day, Peoples-Walls was 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and three runs batted in. He celebrated his 24th birthday in style, as he was 4-for-5 with two runs scored, a two-run home run and seven total RBI, which is now the franchise single-game record. He followed it up with a 1-for-4 day but had his 11th RBI of the series Thursday.

His fortunes weren’t out of this world at the plate against Lake Erie, but he still managed a 3-for-11 series with three RBI, helping the Wild Things to a series win.

In all, his 14 RBI this week move his total on the season from 31 to 45, and his total 11-24 with everything thrown in was deemed worthy of this weekly honor, as he helped Washington to a 4-2 record as it battles for the playoffs.

Peoples-Walls joins Chase Cunningham as weekly-award recipients this season, as Cunningham was named Pitcher of the Week in early July.

Congratulations to Kenny Peoples-Walls on these laurels from the Frontier League. You can read the league’s release at frontierleague.com

Peoples-Walls and the Wild Things open a three-game series at home against the Schaumburg Boomers tomorrow, Tuesday, August 22, at 7:05 p.m.
