Washington Whirls Past Windy City Thunderbolts; Foss Pitches Shutout

Washington, Pa – The Washington Wild Things (16-14) defeated the Windy City Thunderbolts (19-12) by a score of 3-0 in a nine-inning battle lead by pitcher Trevor Foss.

The Friday match-up earned Foss (5-2) another win on the season, as he allowed no runs and only three hits in his nine innings on the hill.

The Wild Things jumped first; leadoff hitter Jamal Austin launched a triple in the bottom of the first, followed by a sacrifice fly by Ricky Rodriguez to learn the first run.

In the third inning Washington scored again; a two out triple by Rodriguez and a single by Haar put the Wild Things up 2-0.

Washington rallied around their pitcher as they produced four 1-2-3 innings. Foss recorded four strikeouts – bringing his total to 39 for the year. His ERA decreases to 1.83.

The Washington Wild Things will meet the Windy City Thunderbolts forgame two fo the three-game set Saturday when first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. EDT.  The first 1000 fans will receive a Wild Things Ball Cap courtesy of CoGos.
