Washington Defeats Florence
WASHINGTON, PA – The Washington Wild Things (23-21) and the Florence Freedom (16-28) battled in a Sunday, July 3, 2016 afternoon pitcher’s match. Washington defeated the Freedom in the nine-inning competition with a score of 4-1.
LHP Brian O’Keefe led the Wild Things to victory by allowing only four hits and shutting down eight batters in his six innings on the mound. O’Keefe lowers his season ERA to 1.77.
The Wild Things scored first when Andrew Heck knocked a double in the bottom of the first – he was drove in by a sacrifice fly shot by Bryan Haar. Florence responded with a run in the top of the second – tying the game 1-1.
Washington took the lead in the sixth when Ricky Rodriguez blasted a three-run homerun putting the home team up 4-1. Logan Uxa also produced a single during the outing.
