Washington Falls To Slammers
WASHINGTON, PA – The Washington Wild Things (44-45) and the Joliet Slammers (49-41) played in a soggy competition on Sunday, August 28, 2016 starting at 5:05 p.m. Washington fell to the Slammers with a score of 4-2 after seven innings.
RHP Luke Wilkins (3-7) was the losing pitcher for the Wild Things – during his seven innings on the mound, Wilkins shutdown six Slammers and allowed six hits. LHP Sean Townsley (7-7) was the winning pitcher for the Joliet Slammers.
Joliet scored in the third when Charlie White knocked in Phillip Bates; the Slammers scored again the fourth when Carter Bell hit a two-run homerun. Washington answered with homeruns in the fifth and sixth from Grant Fink and Ricky Rodriguez. However, due to a rain delay, Washington’s comeback remained unknown.
The Wild Things will play the remainder of the regular season on the road, starting Tuesday, August 30, 2016 against the Windy City Thunderbolts.
