Wild Things, NAPB Announce 2027 Schedule
WASHINGTON, Pa. (October 1) – It’s been a big few days in the league and today, the Washington Wild Things, in conjunction with the National Association of Professional Baseball (formerly known as the Frontier League), have announced their schedule for the 2027 season, a season that is the 25th for the Wild Things in Washington, Pennsylvania as a member of the league.
With big plans in store to celebrate the milestone season, Washington will play 51 home games in the 102-game slate, including 10 weekends at home at EQT Park with many a chance for fun, promotions and opportunities to experience the electric atmosphere that has made Wild Things baseball a summer staple in Washington County, Western Pennsylvania and the tri-state area.
The 2027 season includes 10 weekend series and seven weekday sets, with the home opener slated for Friday, May 14 against the New York Boulders, a team Washington last opened its home schedule against in 2023. That weekend will kick off a summer packed with tons of excitement, energy and unforgettable moments as part of the celebration of 25 seasons that will truly be unbelievable!
“There’s always excitement when a new schedule comes out, but this one certainly feels different,” said vice president of baseball operations Kyle Dawson. “Our 25th season is going to be a celebration of everything and everyone that has made this organization and community staple so special and we’re working on huge plans that will make 2027 truly unforgettable. Seeing the dates, games and opponents on a calendar just makes it feel even more real. We’re so excited to share our plans when the time comes and after a tremendous 2026 from attendance and memories to on-field success, we’re striving to make 2027 even bigger and better than ever!”
The league will begin the 2027 regular season some games Thursday, May 6 before most of the now 20-team league opens the slate Friday, May 7. That night will feature Washington’s first game of the season and its first trip to Kinston, North Carolina, to play the Down East Bird Dawgs, who are in Washington’s new division.
The Wild Things, with the league’s addition of the Kane County Cougars (Il.) and Cleburne Railroaders (Tx), will move over to the Atlantic Conference and the East Division, which will be comprised of the Wild Things, the Bird Dawgs, the New York Boulders, the New Jersey Jackals and the Sussex County Miners. The North Division will still feature Québec, Trois-Rivières, Tri-City, Brockton and the reigning champion Ottawa Titans. The Midwest Conference will be made up of the Central Division (Evansville, Florence, Kane County, Lake Erie and Schaumburg) and the West Division (Cleburne, Gateway, Joliet, Mississippi and Windy City).
After the initial six-game trip takes the club to Kinston and Florence, Kentucky to play the Y’alls, the Wild Things have just that weekend set against New York with the home opener in there before hitting the road for six. They round out May by hosting Québec for six games from May 25-30, which will mark Québec’s second trip to Washington in team history during the regular season (2022). Washington will play nine home games in May 17 in June, nine in July and 16 in August. The home slate includes the first three meetings between the Things and Kane County, a weekend series scheduled for August 27-29.
The league’s All-Star Break will run from July 12-15, and the location has not yet been announced, while the playoffs are slated to run from September 8-26.
