Team Victory Forces Game Four in Midwest Finals
WASHINGTON, Pa. (September 18) – Behind a dominant outing from starter Drew Stegura and stellar pen work by Michael O’Hanlon, Washington handed the ball to its closer Landon Ginn with two outs to get and he got them to push the Midwest Finals to Game 4 tomorrow night in Washington at EQT Park at 7:05 p.m. Washington will need to win to stay alive again, but to win three you have to win one.
Stegura was excellent in his six innings, scattering five hits and a run (in the sixth) with three walks and two strikeouts in his playoff debut. The 22-year-old got the win for the second time against Evansville in 2026, having authored seven scoreless against the Otters back on August 20 for his best start of the regular season. He was followed by quite the electric outing from Michael O’Hanlon, who followed his Game 2 2.1 scoreless innings with another 2.1 scoreless. He allowed just one baserunner on a free pass and struck out three, including Dennis Pierce on 10 pitchers to end the eighth and Blake Robertson to start the ninth before giving way to Ginn. Ginn allowed a pair of hits but settled down to get the next two batters and finish it off for the save.
Washington didn’t do a ton offensively but did enough, scoring the game’s first run in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Kyle Edwards scoring Miles Simington, who had doubled and gone to third on a passed ball. The Wild Things got two in the fourth, one on a single by Caleb Ketchup and one on a groundout by Antonio Monroy, making it 3-0. They made it 4-0 in the fifth with an RBI double by Jeff Liquori.
Neither team has announced a starter at this juncture for tomorrow’s pivotal Game 4. Evansville is a win away still from the Frontier League Championship Series and a date with newly-crowned Atlantic champion Ottawa, while Washington must win again to force a winner-take-all Game 5, which would be Sunday.
