Wild Things Bats Silenced in 7-1 Loss

Washington, Pa. – A three-hit night by Michael Parker could not help the Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Financial. They fell to the Windy City Thunderbolts 7-1 Tuesday night at CONSOL Energy Park.

The Wild Things scored first in the bottom of the first inning. Parker led off the inning with a single up the middle. He then scored on a line drive to center field by John Delaney to take a 1-0 lead.

The Thunderbolts took the lead in the top of the third when J.T Restko and Mike Torres scored on a Gilberto Mejia single to leftfield.

Windy City added on in the top of the fourth when Ryne White hit a three-run home run, his fifth of the season, to give them a 5-1 lead.

They added two more runs in the top of the fifth after Ryan Basham scored on a double up the leftfield line by Zach Aakhus and Jeremy Hamilton scored on a single by Restko to make the score 7-1.

Wild Things starter Justin Edwards went 3 innings giving up 2 runs on three hits. He walked one and struck out three in the loss.

Windy City starter Sean Taylor went 5 innings giving up one run on five hits. He walked one and struck out six to pick up his first win of the season.

The Wild Things and Thunderbolts meet for the final game of the homestand Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. Kids 12 and under will receive a voucher for a free hot dog, soft drink and chips as they enter the ballpark, courtesy of Chesapeake Energy.
