Wild Things Don't Let Freedom Ring on July 4th
Wild Things Beat Freedoom 12-8
Washington, PA – The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, beat the Florence Freedom 12-8 at CONSOL Energy Park Friday night. The tone for the evening was set in the first inning when Washington scored six runs, but Florence chipped away throughout the game, adding three runs in the ninth inning. Washington, however, managed to hold the Freedom in check to get the victory. Chris Sidick, Jacob Dempsey, Phil Butch, Nathan Messner, and Brad Arnett each scored two runs. Dempsey had three RBI on the evening. Mike Schellinger (6-2) got the victory for Washington, allowing four (earned) runs on six hits, walking one and striking out 11 batters in seven innings of work. Matt Maradeo and Kevin Reese each pitched an innings of relief. The Wild Things and the Freedom meet for game two of this three game set Saturday when first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Air time on WJPA 95.3 F.M. is 6:55 p.m. Tickets are available at the CONSOL Energy Park Box Office.
